The New Media Is An Advantage Because It Gives Us Information In Real Time – President Mahama

According to a report by The1957News yesterday which was Thursday, October 29, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama has highlighted the growing importance of new media, describing it as a major advantage because it enables people to receive information and updates in real time.

The President made the remarks during an engagement with members of the Ghanaian community in Moscow, Russia, where he interacted with citizens living outside the country and discussed developments in Ghana and the changing nature of communication.

According to Mahama, the emergence of digital platforms has significantly transformed how information is shared and received. Unlike traditional media channels, which may take longer to report certain developments, social media and other online platforms allow information to reach people almost immediately.

He noted that this development provides an opportunity for leaders and citizens to remain connected, regardless of their geographical locations.

Through new media, people can follow important national events, express their opinions and communicate concerns without necessarily being physically present in the country.

The President’s comments also draw attention to the influence of digital communication in modern governance. Social media platforms have increasingly become important tools for public engagement, allowing citizens to question government decisions, share experiences and contribute to discussions about national development.

His meeting with Ghanaians in Moscow forms part of efforts to engage members of the Ghanaian diaspora and maintain communication with citizens living abroad.

Mahama’s remarks reinforce the view that new media has become an important part of contemporary society, particularly in an era where access to timely and reliable information is essential.

He emphasised its advantage in helping people stay informed about events as they unfold, while strengthening communication between leaders and the public.
