Rapper Tupac murder convict Keffe D transferred to maximum-security prison
Duane “Keffe D” Davis, who was convicted of orchestrating the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, has been transferred to High Desert State Prison in the Las Vegas area following his sentencing.
According to 8 News Now, Davis was moved from a Las Vegas jail to the high-security facility after receiving a sentence of 40 years to life in prison on October 13. The 63-year-old was sentenced after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder in August. Prosecutors argued that Davis helped organise the drive-by shooting in retaliation for an earlier confrontation involving his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson.
According to the prosecution’s account, Shakur and members of his entourage attacked Anderson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas before the shooting. Shakur was travelling in a BMW with music executive Suge Knight when he was shot on September 7, 1996. The rapper passed on six days later at the age of 25.
Davis was the only person charged in connection with the case, which remained unresolved for nearly three decades before his prosecution. His legal team has continued to maintain his innocence and intends to appeal the conviction.
