Mohbad’s Family Seeks Delay Of Scheduled DNA Test
The family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has called for the postponement of a DNA test scheduled for October 31 to determine the paternity of his son, Liam.
The family also demanded the disclosure of the United States laboratory expected to conduct the test, citing concerns about transparency and compliance with a court order.
In a statement signed by the family head, Samuel Aloba, the family sought clarification on whether the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre would conduct the examination or only collect and send the samples abroad.
It also requested details of the laboratory’s accreditation and the procedures for collecting, preserving, transporting and analysing the samples to ensure their integrity.
The family stressed that its concerns were not an attempt to prevent the paternity issue from being resolved but to ensure the process was credible and transparent.
It called for the exercise to be suspended until the outstanding issues were addressed and any necessary court directions obtained.
Mohbad died at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023. His family has since pursued legal steps to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and resolve questions concerning his son’s paternity.
