“No Sober Revolutionary Must Celebrate What Zuma & His Cruel Cronies Has Done To Nomvalo” Mtolo Say
Former African National Congress (ANC) KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo has criticised the treatment of former uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo, saying no genuine revolutionary should celebrate what he described as the actions of Jacob Zuma and his associates against the former party official.
Mtolo’s remarks come amid growing controversy surrounding Nomvalo’s removal from his position as MKP secretary-general and the internal disagreements that have emerged within the party following the leadership decision.
Nomvalo was removed from his position on October 22, 2026, with the party citing several concerns, including internal factionalism, councillor selection processes, alleged dual remuneration, delays in campaign materials and changes within the parliamentary caucus.
However, Nomvalo has strongly disputed the circumstances surrounding his removal. During a media briefing on Friday, October 30, he accused certain senior party figures of allegedly feeding Zuma fabricated intelligence reports and false information to influence the decision to remove him.
Responding to the developments, Mtolo expressed his disapproval of the treatment allegedly suffered by the former secretary-general, arguing that political disagreements should not become an opportunity to celebrate another person’s difficulties.
According to Mtolo, no sober-minded revolutionary should celebrate what he described as the actions of Zuma and his associates against Nomvalo.
He also cautioned political organisations against rushing to recruit the former MKP secretary-general following his removal, suggesting that some parties could see the situation as an opportunity to advance their own political interests.
Mtolo argued that immediately approaching Nomvalo with recruitment offers could amount to taking advantage of someone who is still dealing with the consequences of his departure from the organisation.
He maintained that political parties should allow the former MKP official sufficient time to recover emotionally and reflect on his political future before making any decisions about joining another organisation.
In his remarks, Mtolo warned that such recruitment efforts could be motivated by exploitation rather than genuine political solidarity.
“That would be recruitment meant for exploitation. Let’s allow him to heal, then once he has healed he can make his sober next move,” Mtolo said.
His comments suggest that Nomvalo should be allowed to determine his next political direction without pressure from organisations hoping to benefit from the current developments within the MKP.
However, Mtolo did not limit his criticism to the circumstances surrounding Nomvalo’s removal. He also made a strong statement about the MK Party, insisting that it should not receive forgiveness from what he described as any sane black person.
His remarks reflect the intensity of the political disagreements surrounding the MKP and its leadership, particularly following the removal of a senior figure who had been entrusted with one of the organisation’s most important positions.
Meanwhile, Nomvalo has maintained that his public appearance was not primarily intended to secure reinstatement as secretary-general but to defend his reputation and explain his version of events to party members and the public.
He has also alleged that individuals within the organisation used false reports to influence Zuma against him, claims that have not been independently established.
The MKP has previously defended its decision to remove Nomvalo, citing concerns about internal administration and party operations.
Mtolo’s intervention adds another political dimension to the unfolding dispute, particularly as questions emerge about Nomvalo’s future and whether he will remain within the MKP or eventually consider another political platform.
For now, the former secretary-general faces the task of deciding his next move, while Mtolo believes political parties should resist the temptation to turn his political difficulties into an opportunity for recruitment.
The former ANC provincial secretary’s message is that Nomvalo should be given the space to heal before making any major political decisions.
