Just Hours After Launching His New Party, Sifuna Receives Bad News Over His Presidential Bid
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has launched a sharp attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over his growing presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Njiru, who serves as the Wiper Patriotic Front spokesperson, argued that Sifuna should not expect to become Kenya’s next president without facing criticism over his leadership and political ambitions.
In his remarks, the lawyer used strong language to challenge the senator’s suitability for the country’s top seat.
“Sifuna must be told, in no uncertain terms, that neither psychopathy nor mediocrity will propel him to the Presidency,” Njiru stated.
His comments come at a time when Sifuna’s political profile has continued to attract attention following his involvement in the Linda Mwananchi movement and growing discussions about the opposition’s 2027 presidential ticket.
Sifuna has openly expressed interest in becoming Kenya’s next president, positioning himself among the leaders seeking to challenge President William Ruto in the coming election.
However, his ambitions have attracted criticism from several experienced politicians, with some questioning whether he has enough political experience to lead the country.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula recently argued that Sifuna should gain more political experience before seeking the presidency. He maintained that Kenya’s previous presidents had spent considerable time in politics before ascending to the top seat.
Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka and Sifuna have also been involved in discussions aimed at building a united opposition ahead of the next election.
On October 26, Kalonzo visited Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, where the two leaders discussed political cooperation and the need for a single opposition candidate.
With different leaders expressing interest in the presidential ticket, the question of who will eventually lead the opposition campaign remains unsettled.
Njiru’s latest remarks have added another voice to the growing debate surrounding Sifuna’s presidential ambitions.
