“I’ll Send Him to Sugoi Early”: Sifuna Pleads with Gachagua for 2027 Presidential Ticket
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has made a bold appeal to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, expressing confidence that their political partnership could help remove President William Ruto from power in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Friday, October 30, during the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Sifuna appeared to send a direct message to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader.
“Gachagua, mkinipea hii kitu napeleka KASONGO nyumbani mapema kabisa,” Sifuna said.
His remarks attracted attention as opposition leaders continue to discuss how they can unite and challenge Ruto in the next presidential election.
Sifuna’s statement comes days after Gachagua hosted him and other Linda Mwananchi leaders at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on October 20.
The meeting brought together several politicians, including Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
During the visit, Gachagua welcomed the delegation and expressed his willingness to work with leaders who share a common political goal.
The former Deputy President has also previously indicated that he would be willing to support Sifuna’s presidential ambitions or even serve as his running mate if opposition leaders agreed on such an arrangement.
Meanwhile, Sifuna and his allies are working to establish the Linda Mwananchi Movement as a political vehicle ahead of the August 2027 General Election.
The Friday headquarters launch marked another step in the movement’s preparations, with several leaders expected to take up different national positions.
The movement has also scheduled a National Delegates Convention for November 13, 2026, to complete its rebranding process and formalise its leadership structure.
However, the question of who will carry the opposition’s presidential ticket remains a major issue among leaders seeking to challenge Ruto.
Sifuna’s latest remarks have once again brought attention to the possibility of a political partnership between him and Gachagua.
