I’ll accept political appointment from Bawumia if it benefits Ghana – Nigel Gaisie

The leader of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has expressed his willingness to accept a political appointment from former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia if it would contribute to Ghana’s development.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM, the clergyman argued that religious leaders should actively participate in politics and governance to contribute to nation-building.

According to him, the church has an important role to play in shaping national development, and prophets should not be excluded from political appointments.

β€œThe church of God must be into politics,” he stated.

Prophet Gaisie cited Zimbabwean preacher Prophet Uebert Angel, who previously held a diplomatic appointment in Zimbabwe, as an example of how religious leaders can participate in governance.

β€œProphet Herbert Angel is a pastor but he holds a political appointment in Zimbabwe, so we should also look at the next phase of governance. We would see prophets taking political appointments,” he said.

When asked whether he would accept a political appointment from Dr Bawumia, Prophet Gaisie indicated that he would consider the offer based on its potential contribution to national development rather than the political figure making it.

β€œI will look at it, if it is a good appointment that will benefit the country, for nation building, I will do it,” he stated.
