I Was invited For A interview, & They Showed Me A Picture Of Bandits Who Kidnapped Children -Gumi

In an interview on PAPShow on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric, recounted an experience during a television interview in which he was shown a photograph of bandits who kidnapped schoolchildren, highlighting Nigeria’s insecurity and the importance of addressing challenges affecting vulnerable communities.

Gumi made the remarks while discussing insecurity, education, and the difficulties facing communities affected by banditry and kidnappings. He emphasised that every Nigerian child deserves access to education, regardless of their location or circumstances.

According to Gumi, “I was invited for a TV interview, and they showed me a picture of bandits who kidnapped schoolchildren.” He shared the experience while discussing the broader security situation and the need to ensure that children are not deprived of educational opportunities because of violence.

The Islamic cleric argued that education remains essential to Nigeria’s development and should be accessible to children across the country. He maintained that the government must prioritise children living in disadvantaged communities, including areas affected by insecurity.

Gumi also stressed that poverty, inadequate education, and limited opportunities require urgent attention from authorities. He maintained that investing in education could help young people acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to improve their circumstances.

Furthermore, he argued that children living in remote areas should not be abandoned because of their location. According to him, government policies must ensure that every child has an opportunity to attend school.

Gumi’s remarks highlighted the importance of combining security measures with educational investment and social support to address Nigeria’s challenges and improve opportunities for future generations.
