I Did Not Intend to Disrespect You β€” Kwabena Bobie Ansah Apologises to Stonebwoy

Accra FM presenter Kwabena Bobie Ansah has rendered an apology to Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy following remarks he made while explaining his preference for Shatta Wale over the Bhim Nation president, clarifying that his comments were not intended to undermine the musician or disrespect his achievements in the entertainment industry.

The presenter issued the apology in a message addressed directly to Stonebwoy, expressing regret over the remarks and acknowledging that the musician may have interpreted his comments as an attempt to attack his personality or diminish his contribution to Ghanaian music.

In his message, Bobie explained that although he had shared his personal preference between the two dancehall artistes, he never intended to use the opportunity to belittle Stonebwoy or make disrespectful statements about him.

β€œHi bruv, I send you my sincere apologies concerning comments I made with respect to my choice between you and Shatta, respectfully, I did not intend to take a swipe at your person,” he wrote.

He went further to recognise Stonebwoy’s achievements and influence in the Ghanaian music industry, stressing that the musician had played an important role in shaping the country’s entertainment landscape and deserved to be acknowledged for his contributions.

β€œNyebro, you’ve played your role in the Ghana music industry and a legend in your own rights, I therefore cannot in anyway run you down or disrespect you,” Bobie added.

The apology comes after the presenter made comments about his preference for Shatta Wale over Stonebwoy, a comparison involving two of Ghana’s most recognised dancehall musicians who have established strong individual identities and followings within the music industry.

Both artistes have maintained successful musical careers over the years, attracting dedicated fan bases and contributing to the popularity of Ghanaian dancehall music, while discussions about their achievements and individual strengths frequently feature in conversations among entertainment personalities and music enthusiasts.

Comparisons between prominent musicians can sometimes generate disagreements, particularly among supporters who strongly identify with their preferred artistes, making the manner in which such opinions are expressed an important part of public conversations about entertainment.

His apology also carries the message expressed in the popular saying, β€œTo err is human, to forgive is divine,” as he appeals for understanding following the comments that prompted his decision to address Stonebwoy directly.

By publicly acknowledging Stonebwoy’s accomplishments and clarifying his intentions, Bobie has sought to separate his personal musical preference from any suggestion that he does not respect the musician or value his contribution to the industry.
