I am fully aware of the names of politicians who transferred huge sums of money to support Jollof

Political commentator Peter Tawiah has addressed a strongly worded message to Lordina Mahama, the wife of former President John Dramani Mahama, claiming to have obtained information about politicians who allegedly transferred substantial sums of money to support Ghana Jollof’s activities against the Mahamas. His remarks combined allegations of political betrayal with a warning that he intends to expose those he believes were involved.

Tawiah claimed that sources within the Mahama household informed him that Lordina Mahama was shocked after seeing leaked evidence of the alleged financial transactions. He further alleged that several serving Members of Parliament and former government appointees linked to the supposed funding network had been visiting the Mahama residence with pastors from the Assemblies of God, other prominent religious leaders and traditional authorities to plead for assistance. According to him, these individuals were seeking intervention as they faced possible arrests and prosecution over alleged corruption-related scandals.

Among the cases he described as particularly troubling was that of a first-time MP representing a constituency in the Eastern Region, whom he identified as belonging to the same church as Lordina Mahama. Tawiah claimed that the lawmaker’s name had deeply upset her. He further alleged that the MP was being investigated by EOCO, the BNI and National Security over several controversies and was seeking a plea bargain. These claims have not been independently established.

Tawiah also issued a warning to Justice Sai, whom he described as an exceptionally distinguished lawyer, urging him not to entertain the individuals he accused of seeking assistance. He alleged that they were targeting the legal figure and vowed to publish a complete list of those who purportedly financed what he called the “Umoufia Jollof’s coup and assassination mission.” He distinguished this alleged operation from what he described as an insults campaign, arguing that insults alone do not constitute a criminal offence under Ghanaian law.

The commentator further claimed that three MPs had contacted him and threatened legal action unless he removed their names from the list he said he had obtained. According to Tawiah, the lawmakers reportedly explained that their mobile money transfers to Salomey, whom he described as an alleged collaborator, were payments for shoes purchased on credit.

Tawiah dismissed that explanation, pointing to his claim that the smallest transaction amounted to ₵30,000. He sarcastically questioned whether the alleged shoe purchases could justify payments of such magnitude, using the figures to cast doubt on the explanation offered by the MPs.

His allegations raise questions about political loyalty, accountability and the possible use of financial resources to support campaigns against political figures. They also highlight the role religious leaders and traditional authorities may play in attempts to mediate disputes or seek assistance for individuals facing potential legal consequences.

The controversy further draws attention to the risks associated with whistleblowing and the public disclosure of alleged evidence involving influential political figures. Tawiah’s promise to reveal the names of those he claims were involved has intensified the focus on his accusations, although the allegations require independent verification.

Ultimately, Tawiah’s post presents a picture of alleged political betrayal, financial dealings and attempts to secure intervention amid possible investigations. However, his claims remain allegations, and the identities and conduct of those implicated would need to be established through credible evidence and the appropriate legal processes.
