Ghana govt vows justice for 15-year-old Javits Frimpong shot dead in US

The Government of Ghana has pledged to support the family of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong in its pursuit of justice following his fatal shooting in the Bronx, New York.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 30, 2026, the government said Javits was shot by unidentified assailants at about 9:20 am on Thursday, October 29, while on his way to school.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has since spoken directly with the teenager’s father, Thomas Frimpong, and assured him of the government’s support.

“We will pursue justice, and we will make sure that those who did this do not get away with it,” the minister assured the family.

Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Ablakwa also expressed the government’s condolences, saying: “We are all saddened. We are all distraught. He did not deserve this.”

Officials from Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York also visited the family at their home to express their condolences and assure them of the country’s solidarity.
