Abia Guber Candidate Doris Ogala Apologises to Federal High Court Judge Over Courtroom Outburst

According to Daily Post Nigeria, published on October 30, 2026, actress and Abia State governorship candidate Doris Ogala knelt before a Federal High Court judge in Lagos to apologise for her previous courtroom conduct and plead for forgiveness.

Ogala appeared before Justice Akintayo Aluko on Friday in connection with proceedings involving alleged disobedience to a court order and contempt. Her appearance came after an earlier incident in which her behaviour reportedly disrupted proceedings involving other cases before the court.

During Friday’s sitting, the judge expressed displeasure over her previous conduct and warned against actions capable of undermining the authority of the court.

Following the judge’s remarks, Ogala reportedly left the dock, approached the front of the courtroom and went down on her knees to appeal for mercy. She expressed regret and insisted that she had not deliberately intended to disrespect the court.

The actress also explained that the incident resulted from a misunderstanding involving her legal team. She appealed to the judge to forgive her and allow the proceedings to continue.

Justice Aluko subsequently instructed her to stand, reminding her that the courtroom was not a place for dramatic displays and that her lawyer was responsible for addressing the court on her behalf.

After listening to her explanation and repeated appeals, the judge urged Ogala to maintain proper conduct and comply with court orders in the future. She reportedly promised to do so and thanked the judge for his consideration.

Following the proceedings, one of her lawyers told journalists that the legal team remained hopeful of an amicable resolution.

The court adjourned the matter until November 6, 2026, for continuation of hearing. Ogala was also ordered to remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

The development adds another chapter to the legal troubles facing the actress, who is also the African Action Congress governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 election.

Her apology during Friday’s proceedings does not determine the outcome of the case, which remains before the court.
