Today’s Headlines: Cristiano Ronaldo Now 15 Goals From 1000 Milestone;Osimhen Lacks Character–Kartal

Cristiano Ronaldo is now 15 goals away from reaching 1,000 career goals after scoring a hat-trick in Al-Nassr’s 5-3 victory over Al-Kholood in the Saudi Arabian league. The 41-year-old forward had a first-half goal ruled out for offside but scored three times after the break to move closer to the historic milestone.

Ronaldo benefited from assists by former Chelsea forward Joao Felix and Sadio Mane during the match. Felix set up Ronaldo’s tap-in before assisting his header, while Mane provided the pass for his third goal. Al-Kholood’s Domingues scored a 94th-minute penalty to reduce the deficit, but Al-Nassr secured the win.

Former Fenerbahçe coach İsmail Kartal has criticised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen over his conduct during Galatasaray’s derby victory against Fenerbahçe. Kartal acknowledged Osimhen’s quality and goal-scoring ability but accused him of disrespecting opposing players and supporters after scoring twice in the match.

Kartal described the striker’s behaviour as unsportsmanlike, arguing that a player of his standing should set a positive example for younger footballers. Osimhen has scored five goals against Fenerbahçe and has been credited with contributing 47 points to Galatasaray’s league and European campaigns over two and a half years.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 15 Boko Haram terrorists in an air operation in Kerenoa, Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, including two prominent Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) commanders, Abu Musanna and Hassan Abu Huraira. The military said the operation, conducted on October 28 following intelligence reports, also destroyed terrorist structures and an improvised explosive device (IED) hideout. Several fighters were reportedly wounded, including the area’s ISWAP governor, who was said to be in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has commissioned three blocks of accommodation for junior personnel at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri as part of efforts to improve soldiers’ welfare and operational effectiveness. Theatre Commander, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the ceremony. The Army said additional projects, including a 50-bed hospital ward, boreholes and more accommodation, were ongoing to improve living conditions for troops and their families.

Four tankers reportedly caught fire after striking sea mines while attempting to navigate the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s armed forces. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said three vessels exploded after using a southern route it considers unauthorised, while Iran’s army reported a separate incident involving another tanker east of the strait. The flags of the vessels and the exact times of the incidents were not immediately known.

The incidents have intensified a dispute between Iran and the United States over maritime security in the strategic waterway, which normally carries about one-fifth of global oil consumption. While the US military has said it cleared key shipping routes of mines, Iran challenged the claim and demanded independent evidence. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency also reported two separate maritime incidents, including a dhow that caught fire and sank and a tanker struck by an unidentified projectile.
