Over ₦600bn Has Been Disbursed To 10M Households While 15M Households Are Targeted— Taiwo Oyedele
The Federal Government has disclosed that it has disbursed more than ₦600 billion to over 10 million households across Nigeria through its cash transfer programme, with plans to expand the initiative to reach at least 15 million households.
According to a report by Arise News on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed the figures during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Oyedele said the government remained aware of the economic difficulties facing Nigerians and acknowledged that more work was needed to address the country’s challenges.
The minister explained that the ongoing economic reforms were designed to benefit ordinary citizens, noting that the government was focused on ensuring that its policies responded to the needs of Nigerians.
He disclosed that more than 10 million households had benefited from the cash transfer initiative, while the government was working towards extending the programme to at least 15 million households.
The expansion would bring an additional five million households into the programme if the target is achieved.
Oyedele’s remarks come amid the Federal Government’s efforts to provide financial assistance to vulnerable households while implementing economic reforms aimed at addressing the country’s economic challenges.
The cash transfer programme is part of the government’s social intervention measures intended to support households facing financial difficulties.
