Kenya Met Makes Major Announcement on What to Expect in These Regions

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a five-day weather forecast warning Kenyans to prepare for changing weather conditions across the country from Friday, October 30, to Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The forecast covers several regions, including the Coast, Western Kenya, Nairobi and the northern arid and semi-arid areas. According to the outlook, some counties are expected to receive moderate rainfall, while others will experience dry conditions accompanied by high daytime temperatures.

The advisory comes as Kenya continues through the October-November-December short rains season, a period when rainfall patterns can affect farming, transport and other daily activities.

Residents in areas expected to receive rainfall have been encouraged to remain alert and monitor weather updates. Heavy downpours, where they occur, could disrupt movement and make some roads difficult to navigate.

Motorists and other road users are also advised to exercise caution during rainy periods because wet road surfaces and reduced visibility can increase the risk of accidents.

The forecast further highlights differences in temperatures across the country. Turkana is expected to record some of the highest daytime temperatures, reaching approximately 37 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, parts of the highlands could experience nighttime temperatures dropping to around 11 degrees Celsius. Residents in these areas may need warm clothing, particularly during early mornings and evenings.

Farmers are also encouraged to pay attention to the forecast as they continue preparing their land and planting crops during the short rains season. Understanding expected rainfall patterns could help them plan their agricultural activities.

The five-day outlook gives households, farmers and businesses an opportunity to prepare for the expected conditions and adjust their plans where necessary.

Kenyans are encouraged to continue following official updates from the Kenya Meteorological Department for any changes to the forecast.

The department’s advisories remain important in helping residents make informed decisions as weather conditions vary across different parts of the country.
