Gachagua’s Planned Visit to Uhuru Kenyatta at Ichaweri Postponed—Here’s What Has Emerged

Rigathi Gachagua’s anticipated visit to former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Ichaweri Residence has reportedly been postponed, with sources indicating the meeting will only take place once Uhuru returns to the country.

According to reports, Gachagua was expected to meet Uhuru this week to brief him on recent political deliberations following his engagements with Kalonzo Musyoka and Edwin Sifuna. The meeting was seen as part of Gachagua’s ongoing consultations with key opposition figures as he positions himself for a larger role in the 2027 political landscape.

However, the planned visit has been delayed after it emerged that Uhuru is currently out of the country. The postponement means Gachagua will have to wait until the former president jets back before presenting the outcomes of his discussions.

In recent weeks, Gachagua has hosted Kalonzo and Sifuna separately at his Wamunyoro Residence, where talks reportedly centered on building alliances and exploring strategies ahead of the next general election. The Ichaweri meeting was expected to be a continuation of those talks, signaling a possible effort to involve Uhuru in shaping opposition unity.

The delay has triggered speculation about the timing and significance of the meeting, with analysts noting that Gachagua’s outreach to Uhuru could reshape political alignments in central Kenya and beyond. While details of the agenda remain undisclosed, the visit is widely viewed as part of Gachagua’s broader campaign to consolidate influence after his fallout with President William Ruto.

For now, the political curiosity remains: what message will Gachagua deliver to Uhuru once the meeting finally takes place, and how might it alter the opposition’s roadmap to 2027?
