Bobby Motaung Throws His Weight Behind Fernando Da Cruz Amid Kaizer Chiefs’ Inconsistent Results

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has publicly backed head coach Fernando Da Cruz and his technical team, insisting that the club will not make decisions based on pressure or follow what other teams are doing.

Despite inconsistent results this season, Motaung has made it clear that Da Cruz remains in charge of the team’s dressing room and has the authority to manage the players. His comments underline the club’s intention to maintain stability while the technical team works to improve performances.

“My coach owns the change room, controls the change room. If you hear how people are fired in other clubs or whatever, we’re not in a circus game,” Motaung said.

The statement comes at a time when Chiefs have faced scrutiny over their performances, with supporters expecting the Soweto giants to compete consistently for silverware. The club’s results have placed the coaching setup under pressure, raising questions about whether the current technical team can deliver the progress fans want to see.

However, Motaung’s remarks suggest that the club’s leadership is not prepared to rush into a coaching change simply because of disappointing results or comparisons with rival teams.

Da Cruz has been tasked with guiding the team through a demanding campaign, managing the squad and finding the right balance to improve performances on the pitch. His responsibilities include ensuring discipline in the dressing room, developing the players and helping Chiefs become more consistent.

For Motaung, maintaining the coach’s authority appears to be an important part of the club’s approach. His comments also send a message that decisions at Naturena will be made internally rather than in reaction to outside pressure.

Nevertheless, the backing comes with expectations. Chiefs supporters will want to see the team translate that confidence into better results, stronger performances and progress in their pursuit of trophies.

Whether Da Cruz can reward the club’s faith will ultimately be judged by what happens on the pitch. For now, Motaung has made the club’s position clear: the technical team continues to have his support, despite the challenges facing Kaizer Chiefs this season.
