When Obasanjo Wanted To Crush Atiku, He Run To Bourdillon, To Tinubu, Tinubu Gave Him AC–Senator Dayo Adeyeye

Senator Dayo Adeyeye, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election. He urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election bid rather than back former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to Punch Newspapers on Monday, October 26, 2026, Adeyeye made the remarks during an interview with journalists in Abuja, describing Tinubu as an experienced politician and capable leader.

He argued that the president should be given another four-year term to consolidate his administration’s ongoing reforms in the economy, infrastructure and other sectors. According to him, Nigerians should allow the government more time to address the country’s challenges and deliver on its policies.

Adeyeye also highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and the approval of Nigeria’s first National Policy on Blue Economy in May 2025. He expressed optimism that these initiatives would help the country unlock the potential of its marine resources and strengthen the sector’s contribution to economic growth.

The NPA board chairman also criticised Atiku’s political history, recalling the former vice-president’s relationship with Tinubu during his disagreement with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Adeyeye claimed that when Obasanjo was putting pressure on Atiku, the former vice-president sought Tinubu’s support in Bourdillon, Lagos. He alleged that Tinubu subsequently provided Atiku with a political platform through the Action Congress (AC).

“When Obasanjo wanted to crush Atiku, he ran to Bourdillon, to Tinubu. Tinubu gave him AC,” Adeyeye said.

He questioned why Atiku would now seek to challenge Tinubu, considering the support he allegedly received from the president in the past.

Adeyeye further accused Atiku of spending considerable time in Dubai and returning to Nigeria mainly during election periods, a claim that was not independently verified.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to assess Tinubu’s performance and decide which candidate is best suited to lead the country in 2027.
