Speculation High as President Ruto Set to Make Major Announcement Today at 6 PM

Tension is high across the country after State House confirmed that President William Samoei Ruto will make a major announcement this evening.

In a media alert issued by the Executive Office of the President on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam announced that the President will deliver a recorded announcement at exactly 6:00 PM EAT.

According to the alert, the announcement will be streamed simultaneously across the President’s official social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok. Members of the media and the public have been invited to follow the address live on those platforms.

The notice did not reveal what the President will announce, leaving Kenyans in suspense and triggering massive speculation online.

Kenyans are now asking what the major announcement could be about. Some believe the President could be announcing a major Cabinet reshuffle that has been long awaited.

Others speculate that it could be about the state of the economy, new measures to lower the cost of living, or a major development project.

There is also speculation that the announcement could be political, coming at a time when the opposition led by Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka is divided over its 2027 flagbearer.

A section of Kenyans online are linking the timing of the announcement to the current political tension in the country.

The announcement comes at a time when the country is facing several challenges including high cost of living, youth unemployment, and pressure from Gen Z for accountability. Many Kenyans are hoping the President will address these pressing issues.

Security has also been heightened with many waiting to see if the announcement will affect the current political landscape.
