Sammy Gyamfi Gifts Toyota Camry to Oheneba Boamah Bennie After On-Air Complaints

Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, has attracted widespread attention after gifting a Toyota Camry to Power FM presenter Oheneba Boamah Bennie.

The development came after Bennie expressed disappointment on a live broadcast over what he considered a lack of appreciation for his efforts in supporting the NDC. His remarks circulated widely online and prompted discussions among party members and the public.

Bennie, who is known for his outspoken political commentary and strong support for the NDC, was visibly moved when he received the car. He praised Gyamfi for recognising his dedication and emphasised that being appreciated was as important as receiving the vehicle.

Reactions to the gift have been divided. While some party supporters applauded Gyamfi’s gesture, others questioned whether presenting such an expensive item during a period of economic difficulty could create concerns about favouritism.

Reports from Loud Silence Media indicated that Gyamfi gave the car in his personal capacity rather than using party funds. He was also reportedly impressed by Bennie’s unwavering support for the party.

The incident has highlighted questions about political relationships and media independence in Ghana, including whether personal gifts to politically aligned broadcasters could influence public perceptions of their work.
