Orlando Pirates Chairman Irvin Khoza Reportedly Buys Relebohile Mofokeng His Dream House
Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has reportedly fulfilled his promise to buy Relebohile Mofokeng a house of his choice after the talented midfielder helped the Buccaneers achieve their league ambitions.
According to claims attributed to Mofokeng’s father, Sechaba, the Pirates youngster and Khoza entered into a friendly wager last season when the player decided to remain at the Soweto giants despite reportedly attracting interest from clubs abroad.
Under the alleged agreement, Khoza promised to purchase a house of Mofokeng’s choice if the midfielder helped Orlando Pirates win the league title. In return, Mofokeng reportedly agreed to pay the chairman R200,000 should the team fail to achieve the target.
Mofokeng is said to have fulfilled his side of the bargain by contributing to Pirates’ reported title success, prompting Khoza to honour his commitment. Sechaba reportedly revealed that the house had been purchased before his son departed for Belgian club Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.
However, details regarding the property’s location, value and ownership arrangements have not been independently confirmed. Neither Orlando Pirates nor Khoza has officially confirmed the reported transaction in the information available.
The reported gesture has attracted attention among football supporters, with many viewing it as a reflection of the relationship between the club’s leadership and one of South Africa’s most promising young footballers.
Mofokeng has established himself as an exciting attacking talent through his creativity, technical ability and contributions in the final third. His performances for Pirates have also strengthened his reputation as a player with the potential to make a significant impact in European football.
His move to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise represents another important step in his career, offering him an opportunity to develop his game in a competitive European environment.
If confirmed, Khoza’s reported fulfilment of the promise would underline the chairman’s willingness to reward commitment and achievement.
For now, however, the house purchase remains an unverified report based on the account attributed to Mofokeng’s father.
