NCC Calls for Accountability in Use of BVN, SIM Registration Data

BY TOLU AKINWALE—The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has called on public institutions and other stakeholders to use information from Bank Verification Number (BVN) and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) registration responsibly to support national development and improve citizens’ welfare.NCC Senior Manager of Regulatory Services, Mrs. Yetunde Adeyemo, disclosed this recently in Lagos, that a the commission noted Nigeria had gathered large amounts of personal information through banking, telecommunications and other government programmes, but poor coordination among databases had reduced its usefulness.
