Mombasa Lady Plans a Party, Invites Her Friends, Only to Be Poisoned, Leading to Brain Damage

A Mombasa businesswoman has reportedly been left with severe brain damage after collapsing at her own birthday party, with her family alleging she was poisoned and saying no one has been summoned or arrested.

Roselyn Ashanti Mchuna, known to family and friends as Chunna, was marking her birthday on 14 February, according to an account shared publicly about her ordeal.

She runs a chain of Airbnb establishments in several towns and reportedly hosted a lavish gathering of friends and loved ones. She collapsed during the party and was rushed to hospital, where doctors treating her are said to have suspected poisoning.

Her family reported the matter to the authorities as an alleged attempted murder, hoping investigations would establish what happened. They claim that no one has been summoned or arrested in connection with the case.

Her condition was reportedly so serious that she spent months in the intensive care unit (ICU). The account says doctors told the family she suffered 50 per cent brain damage, leaving her unable to speak, walk, see or eat. She is now under her mother’s care.

The allegation has not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether toxicology results or other evidence confirmed poisoning as the cause.

The family is seeking answers about what happened at the party, the medical circumstances of her collapse and the progress of their complaint. No individual has been established as responsible.
