The sentiment reflects his seamless £60m summer transition to Anfield from French side Rennes, a move that materialised after Liverpool shifted their attention away from Leny Yoro, who ultimately joined Manchester United.
Despite missing Liverpool’s United States pre-season tour due to shoulder and knee injuries sustained earlier in the year, Jacquet has quickly established himself as a fixture in the squad.
Following the departure of Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid and injury setbacks for Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni, Jacquet made his debut against Como before earning his first Premier League start at Newcastle.
He has since started every Premier League and Champions League fixture this season, playing 956 minutes—surpassed at the club only by goalkeeper Alisson.
His early performances have yielded four Premier League clean sheets alongside notable defensive metrics, including 19 tackles, 15 interceptions, and 10 blocks.
His form also earned him an international debut for France under Zinedine Zidane, who praised the defender’s bravery and dueling ability following a match against Italy.
Jacquet’s arrival at Anfield followed tracked interest from Chelsea, with Liverpool securing a pre-agreement prior to his summer arrival despite his limited Ligue 1 experience of 36 appearances.
Settling into life on Merseyside, he has been taking English lessons alongside teammates Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz, and Ronald Araujo, while forming partnerships on the pitch alongside Virgil van Dijk.
