“You Are a Boy”: MySol to Julius Malema After EFF Leader Calls Him Out at Rally
In response to criticism from Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema over comments made at a political rally prior to South Africa’s local government elections, mining entrepreneur Madibela, also known as MySol, has responded.
Malema discussed the necessity of increasing indigenous ownership of South Africa’s mining industry at an EFF event at Letlhabile Stadium. Madibela apparently responded when the lawmaker specifically mentioned the well-known billionaire in his speech to supporters.
According to reports, Madibela, who started his business career from modest beginnings, decided to respond to the remarks on WhatsApp. He worked as a site clerk after graduating from high school before starting MySol Holdings, a chrome production company that now employs thousands of people.
Madibela does not keep active accounts on popular social media sites like X and Instagram, in contrast to many public people. Rather, in the early hours after the protest, he responded to Malema’s comments via his WhatsApp status. In order to spread his message to more people, he urged his connections to snap screenshots of his posts and post them publicly.
Madibela rejected the criticism in messages written in both Setswana and English, emphasizing the value of diligence and realistic attempts in reaching success. His answer seemed to cast doubt on the notion that significant economic advancement could be achieved solely by political declarations.
To support his point, he also posted a digitally created photo of Malema. Following that, screenshots of the posts went viral on social media, drawing attention and sparking conversations among South Africans.
Divergent views have emerged from the conversation; some have defended Madibela’s commercial accomplishments and his purported contribution to economic growth and employment. Others have concentrated on the more general connection between prosperous black business owners and political figures.
Concerns about black ownership, economic change, and the role of private companies in reducing unemployment have also received fresh attention as a result of the dispute.
The purported conversation between Madibela and Malema has given the debate over economic empowerment and the future of South Africa’s mining industry a new angle as political parties step up their campaigns in anticipation of the municipal elections.
