Who are you trying to impress? Comedian Basketmouth questions Nigerians flaunting wealth on social media
Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has questioned Nigerians who flaunt their wealth on social media, asking who they are trying to impress.
The comedian, who posed the question on his Instagram story on Monday, October 26, asked if people that show off their fleet of cars and mansions online are seeking validation from the rich or the poor people.
“When you post your fleet of cars and your mansions on social media, who exactly are you trying to impress? The rich, who probably have way better? Or the poor, who can only admire from a distance… if they have data,” he wrote.
He also questioned the decision to spend billions on expensive cars when they can’t drive comfortably on Lagos roads.
“You spend billions on supercars you can barely drive in Lagos. Is your garage a race track?” he asked.
“Meanwhile, the potholes are getting bigger and the floods are getting deeper.
“True wealth doesn’t need an audience…it moves in silence.”
