Social media, cloud storage, email and messaging applications may refresh content, synchronize files or download media while running in the background.

However, the company said the rapid depletion often results from users’ settings and consumption patterns rather than deliberate deductions by network providers.

They can also activate data-saving features on their phones and regularly check which applications consume the most data.

The company’s clarification highlights the need for users to monitor their internet habits and adjust their device settings.
