“Soludo Read Economics And He Graduated With 1st Class. Peter Obi Made Second Class Lower” – Senator Victor Umeh

According to Channels TV on Tuesday October 27 2026, Senator Victor Umeh has declared that Estate Management is the most difficult course to study in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The Senator was reacting to a question about the academic qualifications of his former classmates, Peter Obi and Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State.

Umeh said people should not compare his degree with that of Soludo who graduated with First Class honours in Economics.

“If you read my course, you will not even get third class. I read Estate Management. That is the most difficult course to read in the university.”

He explained that Estate Management is not a single course but a multi-disciplinary course that combines several professional fields in one.

He said students of Estate Management are exposed to Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Accounting and various aspects of Law.

“You do courses in Architecture, Engineering, Surveying, Accounting and Law. You read Land Law, you read Law of Contract, you read Arbitration and Awards.”

The Senator added that because of its difficult nature, it is very rare for students in the department to graduate with First Class.

He revealed that the last time the department produced a First Class graduate was in 1978 at the University of Nigeria.

“Estate Management is a multi-disciplinary course. In fact, the last time we had a first class there was, I think, in 1978.”

Umeh, who said he was in the same set with Peter Obi and Soludo from 1980 to 1984, said all of them graduated on the same day.

He confirmed that Soludo graduated with First Class in Economics with Single Honours, while Peter Obi graduated with Second Class Lower Division.

“Soludo read economics and he graduated with first class. What did Peter Obi make? Second class lower division, yes, that’s what he made.”

He insisted that academic class of degree does not determine leadership capacity or popularity, noting that Peter Obi remains more popular than Soludo.

He said no matter what Soludo does as Governor, Peter Obi will continue to be more popular than him both in Nigeria and in Anambra State.

“He is running after Peter Obi’s record. Whether he likes it or not, today, no matter what Soludo does, Peter Obi will continue to be more popular than him.”

The Senator concluded by saying that if there is a free and fair election in 2027, Peter Obi will defeat President Bola Tinubu and win the presidency.

“If there’s a free and fair election, he will win. He won in 2023.”
