For Those Who Might Not Know, They Should Know Today That Rivers State Is Entirely For Tinubu- Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Rivers State that his political camp is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed optimism that the state would avoid the bloodshed, killings and political unrest that have accompanied previous disagreements among political actors.

Wike gave the assurance on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the unveiling of candidates endorsed by the Rainbow Coalition in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, according to a report by Daily Post.

Speaking at the gathering, the former Rivers State governor declared that the state was firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed confidence that political stakeholders would work towards a common goal in the coming electoral cycle.

He described the event as an opportunity to demonstrate unity among political leaders and supporters in Rivers State, noting that the gathering had sent a strong message about the state’s political direction ahead of the next general election.

Wike maintained that Rivers State should move away from political disagreements that could lead to violence and instead embrace an atmosphere of cooperation among leaders and their supporters. He emphasised that peace and stability were necessary for the state to make progress and maintain a united front during the forthcoming elections.

According to the minister, the political gathering was also intended to reassure residents that the state could pursue its political interests without allowing disagreements to escalate into confrontations or threaten the safety of its people.

He further stressed that Rivers State needed a unified political structure in which stakeholders could work together rather than engage in prolonged disputes capable of undermining governance and peaceful coexistence.

The unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition’s preferred candidates provided a platform for Wike and his political allies to demonstrate their influence in Rivers State while reiterating their support for Tinubu’s anticipated re-election campaign.

The minister also expressed confidence that the state was entering a new phase in which political differences would not necessarily translate into violence or division. He called for an environment where political leaders could pursue their ambitions while prioritising the collective interests of Rivers residents.

Addressing the gathering, Wike said the event had made the state’s political position clear to those who might have doubted the level of support for Tinubu among the coalition’s members and allies.

He also reiterated the need for unity, stressing that the state should avoid a return to the period of political tension and violence that had raised concerns among residents.

Wike stated that Rivers State should remain united under a common political direction, adding that the prevailing atmosphere should be characterised by cooperation rather than hostility.
