Safaricom Introduces New Fuliza Service for Kenyan Small Businesses Using Pochi La Biashara

Safaricom has introduced Fuliza Ya Pochi for small businesses in Kenya. However, there are some fees involved.

Fuliza Ya Pochi was launched on 22nd October 2026 to help eligible traders using Pochi La Biashara. It helps traders meet payment obligations by allowing you to make payments even if you don’t have enough money in your business wallet.

This can help small businesses pay suppliers, buy stock, send money and pay their utility bills.

Merchants will need to have been active users of Pochi La Biashara for more than 6 months. The limit will depend on your business activities. Repayments will be automatically taken from any money received into your Pochi wallet.

Safaricom Launches Fuliza ya Pochi to Boost Credit Access

There is a 1% one-off fee charged on the amount you borrow. There is a 48-hour grace period. (Reported on 26th October by TUKO).

A daily fee will also apply depending on how much you owe. This can be up to KSh30 if you owe between KSh2,501 and KSh70,000. You should check what the fees are and repayment terms before agreeing.

Traders can access this via the Pochi Mini App on My OneApp if they are eligible. Or you can dial 334# and follow the prompts.

This could help traders get back in stock quickly. However, with automatic deductions, you need to make sure you have a plan in place for the money you borrow. If your business relies on daily sales, this could be an issue.

Ultimately, Kenyan traders need to know how much they will have to pay back.
