Ruto’s UDA Leader Is Spotted Doing This Just Hours After Withdrawing Support for Wetangula

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has attracted attention after a video showed him dancing to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s campaign song during a funeral in Bumula constituency, Bungoma County.

The incident happened on Tuesday, October 27, a day after Barasa publicly announced his decision to withdraw political support for National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula over disagreements surrounding Bungoma County politics.

In the video circulating on social media, Barasa is seen dancing to Sifuna’s campaign song, “Khupa Lusimu Khwipange,” as mourners cheer during the event.

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, a known ally of Sifuna, reportedly arranged for the song to be played as Barasa approached the podium to address mourners.

Wamboka used the opportunity to urge Barasa to reconsider his political allegiance and join Sifuna’s camp ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He argued that Barasa and Sifuna came from the same region and shared a generational connection, questioning why the Kimilili lawmaker would continue supporting President William Ruto instead of aligning himself with Sifuna.

Wamboka also praised Sifuna’s political approach and called on leaders in the region to support his growing political movement.

However, despite dancing to the song, Barasa did not publicly declare his support for Sifuna during his address.

Instead, the legislator focused on his political ambitions, asking residents to support his bid for the Bungoma gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.

Barasa has maintained his support for Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), making it clear that his disagreement with Wetang’ula centres on local political leadership rather than national politics.

The fallout between Barasa and Wetang’ula emerged after the Kimilili MP accused the Speaker of favouring his brother, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, in the contest for Bungoma governor.

The video has since added another talking point to the political discussions surrounding Bungoma County as leaders position themselves ahead of the next general election.
