Ruto Announces KSh25 Billion Road Investment in Machakos County

President William Ruto has launched the construction of the Kangonde-Masinga-Kaewa-Kithyoko road in Masinga Constituency, Machakos County, as the government steps up investment in transport infrastructure across the Ukambani region.

Speaking at Kangonde, Ruto said the government is investing KSh25 billion to construct 360 kilometres of roads across Machakos County, covering 10 new road projects.

The President also announced that the government is constructing a total of 700 kilometres of roads across the three Ukambani counties of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni.

The road projects are expected to improve connectivity, ease transportation and open up economic opportunities for residents by linking communities to markets and essential services.

In Masinga Constituency, the Kangonde-Masinga-Kaewa-Kithyoko road is expected to address transport challenges affecting residents and improve the movement of agricultural produce from farms to markets.

Improved road infrastructure could also benefit traders, farmers and businesses by reducing transport difficulties and making it easier to move goods between rural communities and commercial centres.

The investment forms part of the government’s broader infrastructure development agenda, which seeks to improve connectivity and promote economic growth across the country.

For residents of Masinga and neighbouring areas, the road project is expected to provide better access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services.

The planned construction of 700 kilometres of roads across Ukambani also signals a wider focus on improving regional connectivity and supporting development in Machakos, Kitui and Makueni counties.
