Photos of Married Woman Who Died Alongside Her Husband and Son in Mombasa Road Crash

Images have emerged of a Kilifi woman who died alongside her husband, son and another relative in a grisly road accident near Mtito Andei that left 24 people dead.

The tragedy has left a family in the Rabai Constituency mourning four kin who perished when a church bus rammed into a lorry along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. The victims were Dr Patrick Mutsunga, his wife Younitta Mutsunga, their son Ndune Mutsunga and Moses Mwadzuya, a child from the family of Patrick’s brother.

Relatives, friends and residents of Mikomani and Mwamumba villages are in deep grief, with many struggling to accept the loss.

Younitta formerly served as the Ruruma Ward administrator, and her death, along with that of her husband and son, has drawn condolence messages from local leaders and the community.

The leaders have also wished the bereaved courage and strength.

The crash happened on Sunday morning, October 25, in the Kanga area near Mtito Andei, Makueni County.

The bus, owned by The Power of the Word Church International, was carrying passengers back to the Coast after attending a funeral in Lugari, Kakamega County.Early reports suggested unsafe overtaking may have contributed to the collision, though investigators were expected to establish the exact cause.

The bus was also said to have been travelling overnight.

The death toll rose from an initial 22 to 24 as more victims succumbed to their injuries, while several other passengers were hurt and treated.

For the Mutsunga family, the loss of Patrick, Younitta, Ndune and Moses has left a painful void that will be hard to fill. As the wider Rabai community mourns, condolences continue to pour in.
