Myself, Soludo, Peter Obi, We Were At The University Of Nigeria From 1980 To 1984–Senator Umeh

According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, October 27, 2027, Senator Victor Umeh has accused Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of displaying envy and hatred towards Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), ahead of the 2027 general election.

Umeh made the allegation while reacting to the political relationship between Soludo and Obi, insisting that the governor could not match the former Anambra State governor’s popularity in the state and across Nigeria.

According to the senator, Soludo’s remarks and actions against Obi could be driven by jealousy, given that the three of them attended the same university and graduated on the same day.

Umeh explained that he, Soludo and Obi studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, between 1980 and 1984, adding that their shared academic background made the governor’s attitude towards Obi questionable.

He suggested that Soludo was attempting to compete with Obi’s achievements rather than acknowledging his political standing and influence.

The senator said Obi should not allow such developments to distract him from his political ambitions, maintaining that personal rivalry should not determine the direction of political engagement.

Umeh stated, “He (Peter Obi) cannot be drawn to what is called the peer envy and hate. You know, all of us were in the university together. Myself, Soludo, Peter Obi. We were at the University of Nigeria from 1980 to 1984, all of us graduated the same day.

“So sometimes when you see people talk, they talk out of maybe peer envy. He (Soludo) is running after Peter Obi’s record.”

The senator’s comments come amid political discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential election and the positions of prominent political figures from Anambra State.

Obi, who previously served as governor of Anambra State, is seeking the presidency under the NDC platform, while Soludo continues to lead the state.

Umeh maintained that Obi’s political influence remains significant, arguing that attempts to undermine his record would not diminish his popularity among supporters in Anambra State and beyond.
