Mike Makaab Breaks Silence on Former Sundowns Coach’s club Exit Amid Chiefs Links

ProSport International CEO Mike Makaab has broken his silence on Manqoba Mngqithi’s departure from Tanzanian giants Young Africans, amid speculation linking the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach with Kaizer Chiefs.

Mngqithi’s exit from Yanga has attracted attention in South African football, particularly because of his experience in the Premier Soccer League and his previous success with Sundowns.

The coach built a reputation during his time at Chloorkop, where he worked as part of the technical team before taking charge as head coach. His departure from the Tanzanian club has now prompted questions about his next move and whether he could return to South African football.

Kaizer Chiefs have frequently been linked with coaching discussions as the Soweto giants continue to seek consistency and a return to competing for major honours. Mngqithi’s experience at the highest level of South African football has naturally made him a name of interest amid the speculation.

Makaab, whose ProSport International agency represents football professionals, has now addressed the developments surrounding Mngqithi’s departure. His comments have drawn attention to the situation, with supporters eager to understand what the coach’s exit could mean for his immediate future.

However, speculation connecting Mngqithi to Chiefs should not be taken as confirmation that the club is pursuing him or that an agreement is in place. A potential move would depend on the circumstances surrounding the coach’s departure, his own career plans and any discussions with interested clubs.

For Chiefs, the appointment of a coach capable of improving results remains a major talking point among supporters. Mngqithi’s familiarity with the domestic game would make any potential return an intriguing prospect, although his next destination remains a separate question from his departure in Tanzania.

Makaab’s remarks have added another dimension to the discussion, as attention turns to what lies ahead for Mngqithi following his unexpected exit from Yanga.
