March and March Leader Claims Ramaphosa Wants to Kill Them Amid Rising Tensions in Durban

The leader of the March and March Movement, Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, has raised serious concerns about the safety of the movement’s members, claiming that President Cyril Ramaphosa wants to kill them amid escalating tensions surrounding protests in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

The allegation comes as the movement continues its demonstrations over immigration-related concerns, border security and what it describes as the government’s failure to address the grievances of South African citizens.

The movement has also accused authorities of using law enforcement measures to intimidate activists. In October, March and March claimed that arrest warrants were being prepared for Ngobese-Zuma and SA First Forum acting chief executive Xolani Zuma, alleging that the move was politically motivated ahead of the local government elections. However, the National Prosecuting Authority and KwaZulu-Natal police subsequently denied that arrest warrants had been issued for the two leaders.

The latest developments come as Durban continues to experience protests and confrontations linked to immigration concerns. Recent unrest has included attacks on businesses, burned vehicles and assaults, prompting calls for stronger law enforcement and greater protection for residents and foreign nationals.
