Kwasi Kwarteng Turns NPP’s Appointment Down
Kwasi Kwarteng has revealed that he turned down an offer to serve as Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He disclosed this in a post on his official Facebook page on October 27, 2026, saying he had been approached by the party’s top leadership about the position.
According to him, the National Chairman, the General Secretary and the National Youth Organizer contacted him regarding the role. “To be fair, I was contacted by the party’s leadership,” he wrote, confirming the outreach.
Mr. Kwarteng said he was grateful for the recognition but respectfully declined the offer. He explained that he believes he can serve the party better in other areas, though he did not say which areas he has in mind.
Despite turning down the appointment, he stressed that his loyalty to the party remains unchanged. “My commitment remains firm, and my focus is on contributing meaningfully to the NPP’s efforts to make Dr Bawumia the next President of Ghana,” he stated.
The post also tagged the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the National Democratic Congress and John Dramani Mahama, placing his message within the wider political conversation ahead of the next general election.
His statement comes as the NPP continues to reorganize its communications and campaign structures. Party communicators play a central role in shaping public perception, rebutting opposition claims and promoting the party’s message, which makes appointments to such positions closely watched.
By publicly clarifying that he was approached but chose not to accept, Mr. Kwarteng appears to be setting the record straight and reassuring supporters that his decision is no sign of disaffection with the party.
