Where Is Sulley Muntari Now At 41 Living In Dubai After Stepping Away From Football
Former Ghana Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari, who earned 80 caps for Ghana and scored 20 goals in his international Career, has announced he is stepping away from football to focus on his personal life and pursue new interests outside the sport.
Muntari, who announced his retirement from football in November 2022 at the age of 38 after playing for Liberty Professionals, Udinese, Inter Milan, Portsmouth, AC Milan and Hearts of Oak, is now 41 years old and living a quiet life away from the spotlight.
According to football administrator Samuel Anim Addo, Sulley Muntari is safe and sound in Dubai, where he is focusing on personal and business matters, after false reports claimed he was arrested there, which were dismissed as fake news.
The former Inter Milan star, who won the Champions League in 2010 under Jose Mourinho, has been without a club since leaving Hearts of Oak in 2022, and decided in February 2026 to step away from all football activities completely.
Fans in Ghana have been asking where Muntari is now, especially after his powerful midfield performances for the Black Stars at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, and many are happy to hear he is safe in Dubai, focusing on business.
Despite retiring, Muntari remains one of Ghana’s most decorated players, having won the Champions League, Serie A, and the FA Cup during his career, and his experience could still help young Ghanaian players.
