Just Days After Being Fired, Babu Owino Sets the Record Straight on Working With Mosiria

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has rejected suggestions that he could join forces with former Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria to challenge Governor Johnson Sakaja in the 2027 General Election.

Babu made his position clear after a social media user suggested that he and Mosiria work together to remove Sakaja from office in the next election.

The MP dismissed the proposal, arguing that Mosiria was also part of the problems facing Nairobi County. He maintained that both Mosiria and Sakaja should leave office.

The response comes days after Mosiria was dismissed from his position at City Hall by Sakaja on October 21, 2026.

Mosiria had served as Nairobi County’s chief officer responsible for environment-related matters and had gained public attention through his activities and statements on issues affecting residents.

Following his dismissal, reports emerged that he was considering a political bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has also been linked to efforts supporting Mosiria’s political ambitions.

However, Babu’s latest remarks suggest that a partnership between the two politicians is unlikely based on his publicly stated position.

The Nairobi gubernatorial contest is expected to attract significant attention as political leaders begin preparing for the next election.

Sakaja, who won the governorship in 2022 under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), could face several challengers seeking to take over leadership of the capital.
