‘It Wasn’t Meant To Be’: Frosler Calls for Swift Action Following CAF Disappointment

October 27, 2026 sportnow Reeve Frosler, defender for Kaizer Chiefs, is focused on moving past the disappointment of their CAF Confederation Cup exit and is now setting sights on the Carling Knockout Cup match against TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium this Tuesday evening. Amakhosi faced elimination from the Confederation Cup in the second preliminary round on Friday, even after securing a 1-0 victory against their Zambian rivals at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the second leg, resulting in a tie at 1-1. However, another chance to chase silverware presents itself almost immediately.

This situation has intensified the pressure on coach Fernando da Cruz, as his team has not recorded a win in their last five matches across all competitions.

“It’s disappointing to exit the CAF competition. The lads put forth a strong effort trying to bounce back after the first leg in Zambia, but it simply wasn’t in the cards,” Frosler, one of the club’s longest-tenured players, stated.

“Now, we are completely focused on the Carling Cup.”

Having secured the competition 12 times, the last victory for Chiefs came in the 2010/11 season. Following their early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, they are now eager to qualify for the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.

Winning against TS Galaxy would propel Amakhosi into the last eight, and Frosler believes advancing in the tournament could fuel the team’s efforts to attain the success their fans are hoping for.

“TS Galaxy have proven to be tough opponents in our recent matches,” Frosler acknowledged, adding, “However, cup competitions always have a different dynamic.”

“We’re eager to show our best form on Tuesday and aim to go all the way in the Carling Cup. We have goals of lifting a trophy, and this is a chance to work towards that.”

With the eagerly awaited Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates approaching on Saturday, Frosler emphasized that Chiefs will remain focused on the immediate challenge against the Rockets.

“Of course, we have the Derby this weekend, but our priority is on TS Galaxy right now, and we’ll treat this match as preparation for Saturday,” he stated.

The clash in the Carling Knockout Cup between Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy at FNB Stadium kicks off at 19:00 on Tuesday.
