If Tinubu Completes This Tenure And Moves To The Next, We Will No Longer Complain Of Hardship- Izunaso
According to a recent interview on TVC News on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Senator Osita Izunaso has expressed confidence that the economic hardship facing Nigerians will reduce significantly by the time President Bola Ahmed Tinubuās administration completes its current tenure and moves into the next one.
Izunaso, who serves as Director of the Directorate of Organisation of the PBAT APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, acknowledged that many Nigerians are struggling with the high cost of living and other economic challenges. However, he maintained that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration would gradually produce results and help reduce the pressure on households.
Speaking during an interview on the programme FCT Brief, the senator argued that the full benefits of the governmentās policies may become more noticeable over time. He expressed the belief that Nigerians would experience some relief as the reforms continue to take effect.
Izunaso stated, āI believe that by the time we complete this tenure and move into the next one, people will no longer complain about hardship to the extent they do today. By then, the reforms will have begun to produce results that will cushion the effects of the hardship we are discussing.ā
To support his position, the senator pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, known as NELFUND, and what he described as improved stability in the university system. He presented these developments as examples of efforts aimed at addressing some of the challenges facing Nigerians, particularly young people seeking access to higher education.
NELFUND was introduced to provide financial support to eligible students who may struggle to pay their educational expenses. The programme is intended to make higher education more accessible, although its long-term impact will depend on its implementation and the number of students it can support.
Izunaso also proposed changes to the law governing NELFUND to allow state governments to contribute financially to the scheme. According to him, greater participation by state governments could help strengthen the fund and expand its reach.
In addition, he called for skills acquisition programmes to complement university education. He argued that practical training could help address the gap between academic qualifications and the skills employers require, potentially improving employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
Although Izunaso remains optimistic about the governmentās economic direction, the extent to which the reforms will reduce hardship remains to be seen. Many Nigerians continue to face financial difficulties, making the implementation and impact of these policies important issues as the administration moves towards the next phase of its tenure.
