Gachagua Set to Break Silence in Prime-Time TV Interview Following US Trip and Wamunyoro Talks
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has scheduled a landmark televised interview to break his long silence, stepping into the national spotlight after weeks of intense behind-the-scenes political maneuvering.
According to official announcements shared across his social media channels and major news outlets, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader has confirmed that he will appear live on KTN Television on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:30 PM.
The highly anticipated broadcast comes exactly a week after Gachagua returned from his tour of the United States.
Since landing back, the DCP boss has refrained from addressing public rallies or holding formal press briefings.
Instead, he has transformed his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri into a bustling diplomatic hub, hosting consecutive high-stakes strategy meetings that have dramatically shifted the national political landscape.
At his Wamunyoro home, Gachagua has held separate, pivotal consultations with prominent opposition heavyweights, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.
These private talks have focused on building a formidable, united opposition front aimed at unseating President William Ruto’s administration in 2027.
Insiders have revealed that the talks have narrowed down the potential presidential shortlist to a core trio consisting of Gachagua, Kalonzo, and Sifuna, with Gachagua expressing willingness to serve as either candidate or running mate.
However, these Wamunyoro engagements have ignited intense political fallout across the country.
ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga and other party stalwarts have fiercely condemned Sifuna’s outreach, claiming that Raila Odinga’s legacy cannot align with Gachagua’s agenda.
Simultaneously, excluded leaders like Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, and Ndindi Nyoro have launched counter-mobilization tours in rejecting any attempt to sideline key figures.
Amidst this political uproar, Gachagua days ago also made a swift stop at the DCP headquarters to welcome Narok Woman Representative aspirant Tayiana Christine Koshal, further expanding his party’s national footprint.
With political tension reaching a boiling point and rumors swirling over secretive coalition deals, Gachagua has decided that the moment has arrived to speak directly to the nation.
Observers expect the televised address to offer much-needed clarity on his agreements with Sifuna, Kalonzo, and Wamalwa, while outlining his broader vision under the banner of “Bring Back Kenya.”
As the nation tunes in, this prime-time interview has promised to reshape the ongoing 2027 political realignments.
