Waiyaki Way completely blocked – Students have barricaded the highway near Chiromo and Kangemi with burning tyres and large stones, as seen in photos.

Bonfires lit – Thick smoke seen as tyres burn in the middle of the road.

-No vehicles passing – Matatus from Westlands to Kangemi, Kawangware, Uthiru are stuck. Many passengers forced to walk.

Police deployed – Anti-riot police seen trying to disperse the students but students are adamant.

Chaos spreading – Reports that the protest is spreading to State House Road, Mamlaka Road and University Way.

The lecturers, under UASU, have been on strike demanding implementation of the 2021-2025 CBA, higher salaries and better working conditions. Government has not listened, and now students are suffering.

Students say they have been in school for months without learning. Finalists fear they will miss graduation, while first years have not even started classes.

“Rais wenu hana haja nanyi Ako kwa…” one Kenyan commented, showing frustration with the government.

Should government pay lecturers to end this strike? Or are students justified to block roads?https://www.facebook.com/share/1JkZj6JKiP/
