Chiefs Fans Question Players’ Celebration After Derby Draw

Kaizer Chiefs have come under scrutiny following their celebration of a draw in the Soweto Derby, with some supporters questioning the players’ reaction and its impact on the rivalry.

Amakhosi superfan Masilo Machaka has criticised the celebrations, arguing that drawing a derby match should not be treated as a major achievement, particularly given the fierce competition between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Speaking to KickOff, Machaka said he understood the concerns raised by supporters who felt the players’ reaction was excessive.

“I am also in support of those asking why the players celebrated a draw like that. Because even we as fans never celebrate a draw,” Machaka said.

His comments have sparked debate among supporters, with questions being raised about the expectations surrounding the Soweto Derby and whether celebrating a draw reflects the winning mentality fans demand from their teams.

For many Chiefs supporters, the derby represents more than just another fixture, with bragging rights and club pride at stake whenever the two Soweto giants meet.
