Burial Disrupted as UDA Senator Shouts “Ruto” Amid “Sifuna” Chants Before Wamboka Grabs Her Mic

A burial ceremony in Bungoma County was interrupted after UDA-nominated Senator Wakwabubi repeatedly shouted President William Ruto’s name as mourners chanted “Sifuna, Sifuna,” before MP Jack Wamboka grabbed her microphone.

Wakwabubi was addressing mourners when she began shouting, “Ruto, Ruto, Ruto!” Her remarks came as sections of the crowd heckled her and others chanted the name of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The situation escalated when Wamboka grabbed the microphone from Wakwabubi, interrupting her speech in front of the mourners and other leaders attending the burial.

The crowd continued chanting “Sifuna, Sifuna,” drawing attention to the political atmosphere surrounding the gathering. The exchange turned the focus away from the burial proceedings as the confrontation unfolded.

Sifuna’s name has become a familiar chant at political gatherings, particularly among supporters who use it to express their backing for the Nairobi senator.

Wakwabubi’s repeated mention of Ruto and the crowd’s response created a tense moment during the ceremony. However, the exact circumstances that prompted Wamboka to take the microphone were not immediately clear.

The incident highlighted the political differences that can emerge when leaders address gatherings attended by people with varying political loyalties.

The burial had brought together mourners and political leaders to pay their last respects to the deceased, but the exchange between Wakwabubi and Wamboka became a major talking point during the event.
