ABC Church Expels Six Officials And Entire Makadara Choir Over Indiscipline

The African Brotherhood Church (ABC) has expelled six senior officials and the entire choir at its Makadara branch in Nairobi over alleged indiscipline, insubordination and political interference.

ABC Secretary General Dr Daniel Yumbya accused the members of staging protests, sabotaging church digital platforms and attempting to intimidate the Archbishop over his support for President William Ruto.

According to Dr Yumbya, the expelled members engaged in acts that violated the church’s constitution and code of conduct, including organizing unlawful demonstrations within church premises and interfering with official communication channels.

The Secretary General said the members had also attempted to politicize church activities by attacking the Archbishop’s stance on national matters, particularly his support for President William Ruto’s administration.

“The church will not tolerate indiscipline, insubordination and political interference in its operations. Those found culpable have been dealt with in accordance with our constitution,” Dr Yumbya said.

The expelled officials have been stripped of their leadership roles and banned from all church activities and premises.

The move comes days after a section of ABC Makadara members demanded the transfer of Bishop Mary Nzyoki, accusing her of mismanaging the branch and causing a drop in congregant numbers.

The church leadership maintained that all disciplinary actions were taken following due process and in line with the church’s constitution, adding that it remains committed to maintaining order and unity across all its branches.

The Makadara branch will now operate under new interim leadership as the church works to restore normalcy and rebuild its choir department.
