Two Men Die in Mtito Andei Crash While Returning to Kilgoris With Newly Bought Probox

Two men from Kilgoris, Narok County, have died in a road accident at Mtito Andei while travelling home from Mombasa, where they had reportedly gone to purchase a Toyota Probox.

The two were travelling with a third man when their journey took a tragic turn along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway. Their plans to return home with the newly acquired vehicle ended in a devastating crash that claimed two lives and left their companion critically injured.

According to reports shared on social media, the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a trailer at Mtito Andei. The impact reportedly killed two of the occupants at the scene, while the third passenger sustained serious injuries.

The injured man was rushed to hospital for treatment. However, further details about his condition had not been confirmed at the time of publication.

The three men were reportedly from Keyian and Oldanyati areas in the Kilgoris region. News of the deaths is likely to leave their families and communities mourning the loss of their loved ones.

The group had travelled to Mombasa to buy a vehicle and were making their way back home when the accident occurred. What was meant to be a journey marking the purchase of a new car instead ended in tragedy.

Details about the identities of the deceased, the exact circumstances surrounding the collision and the cause of the crash had not been independently established by the time the report was published.

The incident comes amid renewed concern over road safety along the busy Nairobi–Mombasa Highway, a major transport corridor used by private motorists, public service vehicles and heavy commercial trucks.

In a separate accident reported around the same period, a collision involving a bus and a lorry in the Kanga area of Mtito Andei claimed 22 lives and left several other people injured.

The crash occurred on the morning of Sunday, October 25, 2026. Reports indicated that the bus was carrying passengers who had attended a burial ceremony when it collided head-on with the lorry.

The two separate incidents have drawn attention to the devastating consequences of road accidents in the Mtito Andei area.

For the families affected by the latest tragedies, the journeys had ordinary beginnings but ended in heartbreaking loss.

As details emerge, the circumstances surrounding the crashes remain a matter of concern.
