Latest confirmed schedule — November 2026 cycle:

For the full details on why the November schedule was shifted, see the full November 2026 schedule.

SASSA pays grants sequentially to avoid overcrowding. They never schedule payouts on weekends or public holidays.

We update the dates above immediately after every official announcement.

Scheduling rule: The first consecutive working day of the month (usually a Tuesday or Wednesday).

Scheduling rule: The second consecutive working day, immediately following the pensioners.

Scheduling rule: The third consecutive working day, held until banks clear the pension and disability queues.

Scheduling rule: Entirely decoupled from the first three days. Processed digitally in a unique 5-to-6-day window after mandatory bank and SARS cross-checks.

SASSA deliberately tries to avoid starting payments on a Monday.

Bank cash deliveries and retail store allocations are harder to secure over a weekend.

By starting on a Tuesday or Wednesday, SASSA ensures that banks, Postbank, and major retailers are fully staffed and physically stocked with cash.

You might wonder why the R370 SRD grant is paid much later than pensions or child grants.

This staggered pattern is a deliberate system design, split into two entirely separate administrative tracks:

1. Permanent grants (Fixed list): Recipients of Older Persons, Disability, and Children’s grants have already passed rigorous, in-person physical applications.

The list is stable and pre-approved weeks in advance. Spacing them over three days is purely a logistics guardrail to avoid crashing banking servers.

2. SRD grant (Dynamic checks): Unlike permanent grants, SRD is legally a temporary, month-by-month application. SASSA must pull external data from SARS, UIF, NSFAS, and commercial banks to verify you still earn below the R624 threshold for that specific month.

Because SASSA can only run these automated compliance checks after these institutions update their databases mid-month, it naturally pushes SRD payment dates to the last week of the month.

This gap also prevents “double dipping”—allowing the system to flag and reject SRD applications from people who already received a permanent grant earlier in the month.

Official SASSA reassurance: “Do not panic. All eligible beneficiaries will receive their grants. Once paid, grant funds remain available in your account until you need them. There is no need to rush to withdraw on payday.”

This section tracks the status of recently concluded cycles, currently ongoing payments, and confirmed upcoming phases.

November 2026 (Phase 1 – Main grants): Early payouts confirmed to avoid the Elections Week clash.

Pensioners are moved to October 30. See the full November schedule.

November 2026 (Phase 2 – SRD): Expected late November (Nov 25 to 30). Dates are pending official announcement.

October 2026 (Currently ongoing): Main grants were successfully paid from October 2.

The SRD batch processing window runs between October 26 and 30. Check the full October schedule.

Banking note: Once a payout is processed, funds may take 2 to 3 banking days to reflect in your account.

September 2026: Standard payment cycle successfully concluded. View the September schedule.

If your payment date has passed and you have not received your money, do not panic.
