Unbelievable Scene at SA Fashion Week as Orlando Pirates Shows Off
FASHION BOMBSHELL! Orlando Pirates’ New Third Kit Steals the Spotlight at SA Fashion Week
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 26 OCTOBER 2026
Orlando Pirates have taken their identity beyond the football pitch after unveiling their striking new third jersey at South African Fashion Week, where the Soweto giants brought football culture and local fashion together in a major showcase.
The Buccaneers’ 2026/27 third kit made its first official appearance on Saturday, 24 October, at the prestigious fashion event in Johannesburg. The launch offered supporters a different perspective on the club, demonstrating how its heritage can be celebrated beyond the stadium.
The limited-edition jersey was developed in collaboration with adidas and draws inspiration from Orlando, the historic Soweto neighbourhood where the club was founded in 1937.
According to information released by the club and adidas, the design celebrates the landscape, character and generations of supporters who have helped shape Orlando Pirates’ identity.
The new kit carries a deeper meaning than simply providing the team with another playing strip.
Its overall graphic design takes inspiration from the distinctive rooftops and residential landscape of Soweto. These details represent the homes, families and communities that have supported the Buccaneers throughout their history.
The jersey features a dark base colour complemented by maroon, light purple, dusky orange and red accents. The iconic adidas three stripes and branding complete the look, while the club’s famous skull-and-crossbones crest remains a central feature.
An EQT-inspired collar and customised detail at the back of the neck provide additional finishing touches.
The design reflects themes of belonging, resilience and togetherness, reinforcing the connection between Orlando Pirates and the community that continues to stand behind the club.
Pirates take football into the fashion world
The appearance at South African Fashion Week formed part of a special presentation that brought together footballers, South African designers and stylists.
The wider initiative, titled Field to Fashion, featured Orlando Pirates players wearing individually styled outfits created through collaborations involving local creative talent, including designers Neo Serati, David Tlale, Good Good Good and Yona.
The showcase highlighted the growing relationship between sport, fashion and popular culture, while giving South African designers an opportunity to reach new audiences.
For Pirates, the event presented an opportunity to strengthen the club’s commercial and cultural identity beyond football.
The move also demonstrates how established sporting institutions can use their influence to celebrate local communities and support the country’s creative industry.
