Rufai Oseni Faults Tinubu’s Kaduna Campaign Speech, Blames Aides for Poor Preparation
Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s speech at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State, questioning the preparedness of the president’s campaign team ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oseni described the speech as one of the worst campaign addresses he had heard, arguing that the president’s aides failed to adequately prepare him for his first campaign outing ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, the broadcaster said Tinubu would have been better off not campaigning in Kaduna if he was going to deliver what he described as an embarrassing speech.
“I think that was the worst campaign speech I’ve ever heard in my life by President Tinubu,” Oseni said.
He added that the speech was “a terrible one for the eyes and for the ears,” questioning why the president’s campaign team had not prepared a concise and coherent address.
Oseni faulted members of the president’s campaign council for allegedly failing to develop a brief speech that would clearly communicate the administration’s achievements, policies and responses to public concerns after nearly four years in office.
According to him, Tinubu’s aides should have prepared a five-minute address highlighting the administration’s record and explaining its policies to Nigerians.
He also questioned why the campaign team allowed the president to deliver what he considered a disjointed speech at a critical stage of his re-election campaign.
“What is wrong with you guys? Is this how much you are so concerned about just collecting money from him?” the broadcaster asked.
Oseni further criticised Tinubu’s remarks on the removal of the petrol subsidy and his reported attempt to attribute the poverty and hunger confronting Nigerians to the opposition.
He argued that the speech lacked structure, coherence and a clear ideological direction, adding that it failed to provide a convincing defence of the administration’s policies and performance.
“You just allow a man like that to ad lib at his inaugural campaign speech after four years in office, where he needs to make a great defence, what did you guys do to him?” Oseni said.
The broadcaster maintained that the president’s campaign team had failed to provide adequate preparation and guidance for the rally, expressing sympathy for Tinubu over the speech.
“I feel for President Tinubu this morning,” he added.
The APC has commenced campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Tinubu seeking re-election for a second term.
Oseni’s comments come as the president and his party prepare to present the administration’s record and policies to voters ahead of the polls.
